Mission Statement/Motto: Woody is driven by a competitive spirit to help others and organizations improve beyond what they thought was possible. Doing so through a thoughtful, caring, and collaborative culture building approach.
Woody has a unique background offering expertise in many areas. Over the last 4 years as SVP Operations for Kite Hill, an almond based vegan start-up, he led the transformation of the manufacturing operations resulting in a 30-point margin improvement. Woody understands what it takes for a start-up to be successful having worked in a fast paced, hands-on environment.
During his 18-year career at General Mills, Woody led multiple manufacturing facilities having ultimate accountability for delivering financial, service and production results with a focus towards employee, consumer and environmental responsibility and safety. While leading the team of over 400 employees at the Reed City, MI Yogurt facility, the largest in the US at that time, he oversaw $175MM in capital improvements over 8 years, while reducing costs. That facility earned the highest company rating 7 out of 8 years.
Additionally, in Woodys last role at General Mills, he led Continuous Improvement efforts for all the North America facilities by hands on coaching leaders, teaching and mentoring on Total Productive Maintenance methodologies.
Woody started his career as a cost accountant, which led to an opportunity as a Human Resources Manager in a manufacturing facility. This began his love for operations and being able to see immediate results from individual and team coaching.
Woody enjoys growing his faith, biking, golfing, and spending time with his four children and new grandson.
Woody foundationally believes in the importance of strong relationships. He has been purposeful in coaching and building strong cultures. While at GMI he co-led the highly recognized Boot Camp for front line leaders focused on servant leadership, ethics, integrity and change management.
Additionally, the work he did at NIBCO leading improvements and culture change were highlighted in the book “Organizational Change that Works”.
Woody has chaired the Big Rapids Salvation Advisory board leading growth that included starting up a thrift store. He was also a member of the Michigan Works West Central Workforce Development Board and Ferris State University Rebounders Club Board.
